Herbert Horne collector of drawings

Saturday 30 September, 10.30am-12.30pm
The primacy of drawing: Giorgio Vasari, his house and his drawings

The Horne Foundation preserves a collection of drawings consisting of more than 800 sheets, acquired by Herbert P. Horne (London 1864 – Florence 1916) during his lifetime and included, together with all his art collections, in the bequest established in favour of the Italian State that gave rise to the Museum named after him.
For conservation reasons, this is necessarily a ‘hidden treasure’, which the Foundation has endeavoured to enhance over the years by promoting specialised studies, arranging loans and curating temporary exhibitions.
Among the initiatives promoted to celebrate the recent reopening of the Museum, three special events have been organised, featuring the exclusive exhibition of some drawings from the collection, each time chosen according to a different theme. A unique experience that will introduce visitors to the refined collection of the Englishman Herbert Horne.

The lectures are curated by Matilde Casati.
